As a fiction writer and an author who came into the limelight in July 2013 with a book titled “Returnees of the dead forest” which is currently selling on more than 300 online stores, I have come to realize one simple truth about fiction and storytelling and that is “Every Good Fiction Writer Is a Good Liar”
Let me explain this. Fiction writing is all about imagination and butting your thoughts into writing and bringing it into life. You have to tell thousands of lies to make up or cook a good story. You really have to or else you will come out with a flat-footed story that you yourself would not like.
Most often, stories that do not have good lies that can be true easily end up in the dustbin a few pages into the heart of it. Some may even be discarded after it has been completed.
The longer it takes to put a book together, the better as more refined lies will be cooked and added to make it richer.
But it is no crime to tell such stories. Jesus also used parables to teach. He cannot be said to have told lies because he was blameless hence though fiction may be lies put together they are rather seen and accepted as creativity.
